HURRICANES ADMIT MISTAKE IN PRICING AND CUT MOST DUCATS

The Hurricanes "admitted they had set prices too high
this season and unveiled a plan to correct the situation
next year," according to Todd Taylor of the Greensboro NEWS
& RECORD. The new plan, unveiled as the team addressed
season-ticket holders last night, will "reduce the price of
most" single-game tickets by about $10, and season tickets
will be discounted an additional 10%. Hurricanes Owner
Peter Karmanos: "We admit that we priced the tickets too
high. We are begging for forgiveness and putting our money
where our mouth is" (Greensboro NEWS & RECORD, 4/1). In
Raleigh, Steve Politi wrote that the plan will also make
inexpensive tickets available in the lower deck. The
cheapest lower-level seat next season will be $20, down from
$50 this season. In related news, Hurricanes Dir of Ticket
Sales Jim Baldwin has "increased his sales staff from seven
to 10 to reach more potential customers. The team also has
surveyed fans at several games" in addition to current
     season-ticket holders (Raleigh NEWS & OBSERVER, 3/31).
