TWINS/MLB REBUFF MN'S ATTEMPT TO INVESTIGATE POSSIBLE MOVE

          Lawyers for the Twins and MLB say the team doesn't have
     to answer the wide-ranging "civil investigative demands" by
     the state, a case that state lawyers "hope would block a
     Twins move" to NC, according to Jay Weiner of the
     Minneapolis STAR TRIBUNE.  Weiner: "And, even if they did
     answer the questions ... organized baseball's federal
     antitrust exemption would bar the state from taking action
     to block a Twins' move, baseball's lawyers said."  That was
     the "crux of more than two hours of spirited legal arguments
     Wednesday" before Ramsey County District Judge Margaret
     Marrinan, who will decide whether the state's antitrust
     investigation can proceed.  Marrinan said a decision may
     take up to three weeks (Minneapolis STAR TRIBUNE, 3/26).
