The Devil Rays "are unsure whether to allow outside
food and drinks into the stadium," according to Nealy,
Rogers & Hegarty of the ST. PETE TIMES. Policies have been
set for tailgating (it's prohibited) and drunken drivers
(the Alert Cab program), but no guidelines have been made on
carry-in food and reselling tickets. The rules could be
finalized by the end of the week (ST. PETE TIMES, 3/16).
GEARING UP: In Tampa, Carlos Moncada wrote that Devil
Rays Owner Vince Naimoli "is providing an impressive
collection of dining options, shopping and interactive
games" as part of Tropicana Field's $65M renovation. The
features include restaurants, a brew pub, hair salon, kid-
sized concession areas and playgrounds along a skylit
concourse known as Center Field Street. The Devil Rays
receive a share of revenue from all stadium tenants (TAMPA
TRIBUNE, 3/15). In St. Pete, David Rogers examined the
preparations at Tropicana Field for the NCAA Tournament's
South Regional finals and the Devil Rays' home opener. The
outfield areas, especially Center Field Street, will be "a
work in progress" when the Tournament begins Friday. In
addition, the Batter's Eye restaurant, electronic game area,
cigar store and at least some of the food sales area will
not be ready by Friday (ST. PETERSBURG TIMES, 3/16).
