FACILITY NOTES

In Pittsburgh, officials expect to have a naming-rights
deal for the Civic Arena wrapped up in about two weeks.
"Major hurdles" that have to be overcome include whether
Allegheny Energy or another company will be awarded the
naming rights (PITTSBURGH POST-GAZETTE, 2/24)....In San
Diego, Mayor Susan Golding Monday "firmly supported" a
proposed downtown stadium site for the Padres, and the city
council voted 9-0 to accept a report authored by the Task
Force on Ballpark Planning. The proposal still faces voter
approval, but the city and Padres will now work on financial
     details (SAN DIEGO UNION-TRIBUNE, 2/24)....St. Paul's new
hockey arena "took a hard hit" Tuesday at the Capitol as a
Senate committee "slashed" the city's request for a state
contribution from $65M down to $10M. The measure has two
more committee hearings scheduled (PIONEER PRESS, 2/25).
