GOOD IDEAS COME IN BUNCHES: NEW SPORTS BIZ TITLES

American City Business Journals is introducing a new
weekly, Street & Smith's SportsBusiness Journal, scheduled
to launch in mid-April, according to Kerwin & Jensen of AD
AGE. In addition, Int'l Sport Summit organizer E.J. Krause
& Associates is also "in the start-up phase" for its
     SportsSense business publication. SportsBusiness Journal's
initial circulation is 22,500 with an "eventual goal" of
     60,000 to 70,000. E.J. Krause's target circulation for the
16-to-20-page SportsSense is 10,000. Jeffrey Pollack,
President & Publisher of The Sports Business Daily, asked to
assess the market potential for new titles on sports
business: "Obviously, the frequency of the others will
determine what sort of need-to-know audience is being
reached. We have it covered on a daily basis. We'll see if
it's there for a weekly or monthly" (AD AGE, 1/19 issue).
YET THERE IS MORE: BRANDWEEK's Terry Lefton adds that
Miller Freeman, which publishes Sporting Goods Business,
will also launch Sports Marketing Playbook by mid-year, with
"plans to go monthly" by '99 (BRANDWEEK, 1/19 issue).
