GLUCKSTERN WORKS THROUGH LAST MINUTE SNAGS ON ISLES DEAL

The NHL Board of Governors gave "unanimous" approval to
the proposed sale of the Islanders for $195M to Steven
Gluckstern and his co-investors, according to John Valenti
of NEWSDAY. Gluckstern said that he and Coyotes co-Owner
Richard Burke met with NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman until
early Sunday "completing the terms of a deal" to sell his
half-share in the Coyotes to Burke. Gluckstern said that
"without the 11th hour agreement," he would have been "hard-
pressed to pursue the purchase" of the team. Sources said
that Fleet Bank, the primary lending institution, "as well
as the secondary lenders sought to change the refinancing
rates, since Burke alone would be responsible for notes
previously co-signed by him and Gluckstern" (NEWSDAY, 1/18).
