SUPER BOWL TELECAST SET TO TOUT THE COMING OF "ARMAGEDDON"

          Several science fiction and action-adventure movies
     will wage "a promotional battle" during NBC's Super Bowl
     XXXII broadcast, according to Wayne Friedman of the
     HOLLYWOOD REPORTER.  Disney will pay $2.6M for a 60-second
     spot for its "Armageddon," starring Bruce Willis, set for a
     July release.  Warner Bros. is advertising "Sphere," with
     Dustin Hoffman and Samuel L. Jackson, due in February, while
     Sony Pictures will tout "The Mark of Zorro," to arrive this
     spring.  New Line will advertise three films, including
     "Lost in Space," "The Wedding Singer" and "Dark City." 
     Universal is also "rumored" to have bought a spot to promo
     either "Blues Brothers 2000," or "Meet Joe Black," with Brad
     Pitt and Anthony Hopkins (HOLLYWOOD REPORTER, 1/12).
