MARKETPLACE ROUND-UP

GOLF NOTES: Cornerstone Sports Dir of Media/PR Mike
Biggs told THE DAILY that Paul Stankowski will sign an
apparel deal sometime "early next week," with either the
Dockers or Bugle Boy brand. Stankowski exercised an out-
clause on his two-year deal with Tommy Bahama after one year
(THE DAILY). ...FL-based Grand Slam Ventures has created the
first licensed Tiger Woods trading cards, now available in
stores, called "Champions of Golf: The Masters Collection"
(USA TODAY, 11/14)....NY-based Meredith Corp. announced a
brand licensing agreement with Golden Bear Golf, Inc.,
through which the two companies will create Golf for Women
Magazine Golf Schools by Nicklaus/Flick (Meredith Corp).
NOTES: Fifty-five sporting goods makers, including
Reebok, Nike and adidas, have signed on to an effort to
support the monitoring of areas in Pakistan to ensure that
young children are no longer being used to manufacture
soccer balls (AP, 11/13)....In L.A., Denise Gellene reviews
Reebok's new TV spot featuring Allen Iverson, which details
Iverson's upbringing and is touted as a "show of support"
for him after his recent arrest. Gellene: "Is Reebok
serious? Iverson ... is a talented athlete, but he's not a
role model. The suggestion that an athletic shoe can help
reform behavior is absurd. ... [Reebok Dir of Worldwide
Advertising, John] Wardley said Reebok doesn't plan to air
the spot, which broke within the last two weeks, much
longer. Good idea" (L.A. TIMES, 11/13)....Brazilian brewer
Brahma has withdrawn its offer to sponsor Roger Penske's
Andre Ribeiro car. The company will instead "spend all of
its sports promotion money on World Cup soccer." A Brahma
