TEAM PREYS PREDATORS MONIKER WILL BE WELL RECEIVED

Nashville's NHL expansion team will be called the
Nashville Predators, it was announced last night by
Predators Chair & Majority Owner Craig Leipold and President
Jack Diller. The community had the opportunity to vote for
and recommend team names. Additionally, Prince Research
Group of Nashville conducted local marketing research. The
     club's logo features a "dramatic profile" of a saber-toothed
tiger, which in prehistoric time was native to the region
that is now Nashville. The team's colors are dark blue,
silver, orange and gold (Predators). In Nashville, Randy
Weiler reports that the team also liked the name Edge, but
that various entities held trademark rights "that would've
been expensive to secure." Weiler adds that Predators
"apparently won out over Fury" (NASHVILLE BANNER, 11/14).
