THE BRITISH INVASION: U.K. OLYMPIANS TO TRAIN AT DISNEY

The British Olympic Association has signed a $15.2M,
12-year sponsorship partnership with Disney to provide
British athletes with winter training facilities at Disney's
Orlando sports complex, according to Patrick Harverson of
the FINANCIAL TIMES. Under the agreement, 750 British
athletes a year can use the Disney training facilities for
about $85 per day. Harverson writes that until now, British
athletes have had to finance and arrange their own warm
weather training, "a situation which has been cited as one
reason for the recent disappointing results from British
teams in the Olympics" and world championships. Harverson
adds that for Disney, the deal will allow the company "to
forge closer links" with Britain, which provides one million
visitors to Disney World each year, more than any other
     foreign country (FINANCIAL TIMES, 11/12).
