WALTERS SPEAKS WITH ALBERT: WILL U.S. GO WA-WA OVER MARV?

Marv Albert will grant his first national interview
since his sexual assault trial tonight on ABC's "20/20" with
Barbara Walters. In Boston, Howard Manly writes that most
of Albert's answers during tonight's interview "could be
considered unresponsive, because they really don't matter
now." Manly: "He didn't have the courage to tell his side
of the story in court when it counted" (BOSTON GLOBE, 11/7).
In Hartford, Dom Amore writes that Albert is "either getting
bad advice, or ignoring common sense" by granting the
interviews (HARTFORD COURANT, 11/7). In N.Y., Richard
Sandomir writes Albert's "media tour raises questions. Why
is he freely answering questions to the news media, rather
than on the witness stand? ... A week in the heavy news
media spin cycle may raise as many questions as he says he's
answering" (N.Y. TIMES, 11/7). In San Jose, Colin Seymour
writes that Albert's "image can't get much worse, so why
should he regret submitting to Barbara Walters'
interrogation?" (SAN JOSE MERCURY NEWS, 11/7).
