WILL GRANT REPLACE MJ AT THE TOP OF THE HILL?

Pistons F GRANT HILL was profiled by Curry Kirkpatrick
in Sunday's N.Y. TIMES MAGAZINE under the header "Excuse Me
While I Dominate." Kirkpatrick: [P]ro basketball is ready
for Hill to take over the game. But is he ready?" Hill: "My
basketball personality has changed. I came into last season
wanting to send a message to my teammates, to the whole
league. I'm for real. I mean business. I think I can be
the best player in the N.B.A., and I want to show it." Hill,
on becoming a superstar: "Going out as a celebrity and V.I.P.
was a novelty at first, fun, exciting. Now it's like every
time I leave the house, I feel like I'm running for office.
If I want to dance, I'll do it in front of a mirror or
something." Fila Senior VP Howe Burch, who signed Hill to a
recent contract extension: "Grant probably will determine the
destiny of our company" (N.Y. TIMES MAGAZINE, 10/26).
