NASHVILLE OFFICIALS SAY OILERS AREN'T ENGAGING IN RENT-GATE

Nashville Mayor Phil Bredsen "has no objections" to the
NFL Oilers charging TENNFL, the city group selling PSLs for
the team's new football stadium, $900 a month to rent a
trailer office, according to Rob Moritz in a front-page
story in the NASHVILLE BANNER. TENNFL, a branch of the
Nashville Sports Authority, is paying $900 a month to use
"slightly less than half" of a trailer with the Oilers,
which is located at the site of their stadium, currently
under construction. Bredsen spokesperson Shannon Hunt said
that the Oilers pay no rent to the city to have the trailer
at the site, but they are paying "a little more" than $1,800
to lease it. The team also pays for sewage and electricity.
Hunt said TENNFL's rent is based on the percentage of the
trailer it uses. Oilers PR consultant David Cooley: "This
just keeps TENNFL from getting their own office space and
phone system. Everybody is comfortable that this is the
right way to do it" (NASHVILLE BANNER, 10/20).
