THE YANKS ARE NEW YORKERS' FAVORITE, BUT THEIR BOSS IS NOT

In a poll conducted by the N.Y. Post, the Yankees were
named New York's favorite sports team by 41% of New Yorkers
surveyed. The Knicks were second with 21%; followed by the
Mets with 16%; the Rangers at 10%; the Giants at 5%; the
Jets at 4%, and 3% not sure. When asked which New York
figure those surveyed "liked best," only 2% named Yankees
Owner George Steinbrenner, which left him trailing such
notables as Mayor Rudy Giuliani, Howard Stern, Donald Trump
and Al Sharpton, among others. The poll surveyed 800 city
residents last Wednesday and had a margin of error of +/-
     3.5% (Tracy Connor, N.Y. POST, 10/19).
