Despite the Lions' "best efforts," there may be "as
many as" 16,000 Packers fans at the sold-out Silverdome for
Sunday's Packers-Lions game, according to Curt Sylvester of
the DETROIT FREE PRESS. Last season's Silverdome crowd of
an "estimated" 30,000 Green Bay fans "was so embarrassing,"
the Lions took "significant steps to make sure their own
fans got most and the best tickets" this year. Lions Dir of
Tickets Sales/Customer Service Duane McLean "put aside a
stack of single-game ticket orders from Wisconsin until all
local orders had been processed." McLean said "most" of the
ticket requests from Green Bay fans were eventually honored,
but will be "scattered throughout the stadium." The Lions
also gave season-ticket holders the chance to buy individual
game tickets before a public sale and "targeted" MI and
northern OH when it first put single-game tickets on sale.
The team will also have a Ticketmaster listing of the home
address of every ticket purchaser for Sunday's game, which
will be forwarded to stadium security to "identify possible
trouble spots" during the game (DETROIT FREE PRESS, 9/25).
