MAPLE LEAFS GO FORWARD ON ARENA: HAVE DATE SET, BUT NO SITE

The Maple Leafs would like to complete construction on
a new arena in "autumn of 2000," according to Lance Hornby
of the TORONTO SUN. Although a site for the project has not
yet been chosen, Project Dir Tom Anselmi said that there are
"four to five" downtown sites that the Leafs "are high on.
Anselmi "made no mention" of talking with the Raptors' about
sharing their new Air Canada Centre. Hornby adds that it
has been the Leafs "entrenched position" that that facility
"doesn't fit their vision" (TORONTO SUN, 9/25).
