DAN PATRICK CITES BRISTOL AS REASON FOR NEW ESPN MEGA-DEAL

Dan Patrick has re-signed with ESPN for five more years
through 2003, at more than $600,000 annually, according to
USA TODAY's Rudy Martzke. His current deal expires at the
end of '98. Patrick: "There was opportunity for me to go
elsewhere. But we didn't want to leave Bristol with our kids
at age 2, 4 and 6. I was flattered NBC and CBS made
unofficial inquiries about me." Patrick was rumored as a
possible candidate for ABC's "Good Morning America," taking
over for Charles Gibson (USA TODAY, 9/10).
