FRANCHISE NOTES

          In Dallas, the Stars' season ticket renewals are at
     about 95%, up from 77% at this time a year ago.  About 1,200
     new season tickets have been sold, up from less than 600 at
     this time last year (DALLAS MORNING NEWS, 7/30)....In
     Toronto, Raptors Owner Allan Slaight is scheduled to meet
     again today with VP Isiah Thomas regarding the sale of the
     team.  While Thomas' letter of intent to buy -- and
     Slaight's promise to sell -- expire today, Craig Daniels
     writes that it is "conceivable" that new letters can be
     drawn up to give both sides more time to negotiate, as price
     "appears to be the sticking point" (TORONTO SUN,
     7/30)....The Magic are prepared to move their preseason
     training camp to the Disney Wide World of Sports complex
     this season (ORLANDO SENTINEL, 7/30).
