HURRICANES LOOK TO NASCAR DRIVER BURTON FOR MARKETING ASSIST

The Hurricanes have signed Winston Cup driver Jeff
Burton "to be a part of the team's marketing campaign,"
according to Steve Politi of the Raleigh NEWS & OBSERVER.
Politi: "The Hurricanes hope the addition of Burton, along
with a TV commercial blitz and a slight adjustment in its
marketing strategy, will help jump-start season-ticket sales
that seem stuck at about 3,000." As part of the deal, the
Hurricanes' logo and the NHL crest will appear on Burton's
Roush Racing Ford at two races -- this weekend's Brickyard
400 and the UAW-GM Quality 500 in Charlotte on October 5.
Burton will also take part in the team's TV, radio and print
ads, and his show car will appear at the Hurricanes' fanfest
in Greensboro on August 16 (NEWS & OBSERVER, 7/29).
