EAGLES' LURIE REFUTES RUMORS; WILL FOCUS ON NEW COMPLEXES

Eagles Owner Jeffrey Lurie met the media yesterday and
addressed reports that he will "sell, move or be financially
unable to run the Eagles," according to Phil Sheridan of the
PHILADELPHIA INQUIRER. Lurie: "I am very happy owning the
team in Philadelphia, and that's the way it's going to be.
You can spend all your time running after people with their
paranoid mentalities." Lurie said that the team is focusing
on a new stadium and a new training and office facility.
Lurie, on Veterans Stadium, which houses the Eagles'
offices: "It's one of the worst facilities in all of sports,
in terms of going to work every day. In terms of people who
just have to go to work there every day, I feel bad for
them." Lurie said the Eagles did not see themselves as
competing with the Phillies, also lobbying for a new
stadium. Lurie: "I don't see it as an either/or issue.
Teamwork is the key here. It's not about putting the burden
on any one entity" (PHILADELPHIA INQUIRER, 7/29).
