SMELLS LIKE TEAM SPIRIT: SEAHAWKS STADIUM LEADING POLLS

In a "stunning turnaround," Paul Allen's $5M campaign
for a new Seahawks stadium "appears to be rushing toward
victory in Tuesday's special election," according to Boren &
Paulson in today's SEATTLE POST-INTELLIGENCER. A new poll
     conducted for the Post-Intelligencer and Seattle's KOMO-TV
by GMA Research Corp. shows that the $425M proposal is
leading 48-44%, with 8% undecided. The poll surveyed 800
"likely voters" from June 7-9. Boren & Paulson: "The
numbers do not yet add up to a victory for the new stadium.
But they represent a remarkable resurrection for the
campaign to replace the Kingdome. ... They also demonstrate
the effectiveness of the massive Allen-financed media blitz
the Our Team Works campaign has mounted over the last four
weeks." Our Team Works, the pro-stadium group, yesterday
reported receiving $4.8M in contributions from Allen during
     the campaign (SEATTLE POST-INTELLIGENCER, 6/11).
