REDS' ALLEN RELEASES ESTIMATED COST OF NEW STADIUM

Reds Managing Partner John Allen said "he expects a new
ballpark for the team to cost roughly $230 million,"
according to Lucy May in the CINCINNATI ENQUIRER. This is
"the first time the Reds have provided an estimate for their
vision of a new ballpark, and it's $50 million more than the
latest stadium estimate Hamilton County [OH] officials have
made public." The Reds' estimate would bring the total cost
of the stadium development projects, including the Bengals
facility, to "more than" $700M, "well over" the $544M "price
tag touted during the campaign to pass a half-cent sales tax
increase to fund stadium construction." Allen added that
the $230M figure "does not include any necessary land
acquisition, design fees or demolition," but is only the
cost of "building the ballpark itself and parking." County
Commissioner Tom Neyer said it was "premature ... to be
tossing numbers around" (CINCINNATI ENQUIRER, 6/11).
