HUIZENGA HOLDS SHAREHOLDERS MEETING; TAKES REPUBLIC TO NYSE

          WAYNE HUIZENGA's Republic Industries approved a plan to
     move trading in the company's common stock to the NYSE from
     the NASDAQ.  The company "expects to be listed on the Big
     Board," with a new symbol in the next 30 days (WALL STREET
     JOURNAL, 5/14).  At a shareholders meeting, Huizenga said
     that he believed the stock price "was far below what the
     company's performance should produce," adding that the
     stock, including a split, is up 1,800% since the fall of '95
     (Antonio Fins, Ft. Lauderdale SUN-SENTINEL, 5/14).
