          The SGMA surveyed the ten most popular sports in     America (U.S. Pop.; 6+; participated at least once in '96).      This information was abstracted from an annual study     conducted by American Sports Data, Inc., which tracks     participation in 62 different sports or recreation-related     activities.  Participants are listed in thousands (SGMA).
