MONDAY'S OCEAN TALES: FISH ATTEMPTS TO RESCUE WAYWARD WHALE

          Whalers GM Jim Rutherford today will present a proposal
     to team Owner Peter Karmanos from CT-developer Stephen Fish
     to keep the team in Hartford, according to Greg Garber of
     the HARTFORD COURANT.  Fish's proposal "revolves around a
     private-public partnership" that would purchase 49% of the
     team from Karmanos, giving Karmanos operating control and
     the resources to "retire much of the estimated" $45M debt
     from his three seasons in Hartford (HARTFORD COURANT, 4/26).
