          Pats Owner ROBERT KRAFT was at the South Boston St.
     Patrick's Day breakfast Sunday, and the BOSTON GLOBE's Don
     Aucoin writes, "by good-naturedly absorbing a blizzard of
     gibes from the very politicians who thwarted him [in Kraft's
     stadium bid], Kraft may have won back a few friends" (BOSTON
     GLOBE, 3/17)....GORDIE HOWE will report to the AHL's Syracuse
     Crunch on March 31 -- his 69th birthday.  Crunch President
     Howard Dolgon denied Howe's playing as a "promotional
     gimmick" (Syracuse POST-STANDARD, 3/15).  AHL Commissioner
     David Andrews, on Howe's announcement: "I'd like to hide for
     a week" (Mult., 3/16)....RICHARD MILLER, former part-owner of
     the Indians and Cavs, died Saturday of cancer at the age of
     65 (N.Y. POST, 3/17)....Yankees SS DEREK JETER will be
     included in People magazine's "Fifty Most Beautiful People"
     edition next month (NEWSDAY, 3/16). ...Former NHL President
     JOHN ZIEGLER was profiled in the DETROIT NEWS.  Ziegler is
     now with the law firm Dickinson, Wright, Moon, Van Dusen &
     Freeman.  Ziegler: "I do basically a consultant's job in
     sports and entertainment" (DETROIT NEWS, 3/16).
