SELIG STANDS TOUGH ON EQUIPMENT ISSUE AT MILLER PARK

Brewers President Bud Selig and members of the WI
Stadium Board said Thursday that a legislative proposal to
"rule out" using tax money to lease equipment for Miller
Park could "kill the project and kill major-league baseball"
in WI, according to Lamke & Rinard in the MILWAUKEE JOURNAL
SENTINEL. The "immediacy" of the threat posed by the
legislation "appeared to ease somewhat" yesterday as State
Assembly Republican leaders "offered to slow down action" on
the leasing legislation if the Stadium Board agreed to not
sign any lease contracts or issue additional bonds until
mid-May. The Stadium Board added that they have "no such
     plans" (MILWAUKEE JOURNAL SENTINEL, 3/14).
GOOD AS GOLD: Robert W. Baird & Co. Senior VP John
Mehan, a senior co-manager of the $146.7M Miller Park bond
deal with Bear Stearns & Co., on the bond issue: "I believe
they're all sold" (MILWAUKEE JOURNAL SENTINEL, 3/14).
