N.Y. TIMES SAYS SELIG DEPOSITION RAISES SOME QUESTIONS

Comments made by MLB Acting Commissioner Bud Selig
during a six-hour deposition stemming from a lawsuit filed
by Marvin Goldklang are examined by Murray Chass of the N.Y.
TIMES. Goldklang is suing over the "makeup of an
arbitration panel charged with determining how much" the
Marlins must pay for taking the territory of Goldklang's
Miami Miracle minor league team. In the deposition, Selig
"offered what seemed to be conflicting testimony about his
position" at MLB. According to Chass, in the deposition,
Selig was "most adamant when he denied that he has been the
commissioner in any sense of the title." Chass notes the
lawsuit "is expected to succeed or fail primarily on the
     judge's determination of Selig's status" (N.Y. TIMES, 2/23).
