STADIUM NOTES

The Bucs did not provide former Tampa Mayor Bill Poe
their full financial records in his attempt to block
construction of a new stadium, instead offering to provide
"limited" records to Poe in what an attorney for the team
called "a show of good faith." Poe's attorney said the
offer falls "far short" of a judge's ruling to provide full
financial details and asked Judge Sam Pedino to force the
Bucs to comply. A hearing is "likely" Monday or Tuesday
(TAMPA TRIBUNE, 2/21)....In DC, the POST's Maryann Haggerty
examines the uses of deserted arenas: "In some places, such
as Philadelphia, the old arenas continue to hold such lower-
prestige events such as college basketball and indoor
soccer. And in some cases, the buildings struggle to make
money" (WASHINGTON POST, 2/21)....The Brewers agreed to a
10-year moratorium on most commercial developments the team
"might make" around Miller Park, "clearing the way for a
land swap" that will provide parking close to County Stadium
in time for opening day in April. The land eventually will
be used for parking at Miller Park when it opens in 2000
     (MILWAUKEE JOURNAL-SENTINEL, 2/21)....Mets Co-Owner Fred
Wilpon said yesterday the team is still hoping to move into
a new baseball-only facility by the start of the 2000 season
     (N.Y. DAILY NEWS, 2/21).
