          The MLB Giants invited Olympic decathlon gold medalist
     DAN O'BRIEN to work out with the team on Saturday in an
     attempt to "reinforce the importance of top fitness" for
     their players (S.F. CHRONICLE, 2/20)....The National Marrow
     Donor Program has received 16,578 phone calls regarding the
     program since Sunday's telecast of the Daytona 500.  The
     "overwhelming" interest was due to a special drive started
     by NASCAR for race car owner RICK HENDRICK (The Marrow
     Foundation)....SI swimsuit issue cover girl TYRA BANKS was a
     guest on the "Tonight Show" with JAY LENO.  Leno showed a
     shot from the issue of Banks laying on her stomach in a blue
     thong.  Banks said the photographer convinced her to do the
     shot.  Banks: "I have this clause, it's almost like a
     contractual thing, but a verbal thing.  I don't like any
     shots of my butt.  The public has never seen my butt." 
     ("Tonight Show," NBC, 2/19)....MAGIC JOHNSON is in talks to
     produce films and TV shows for 20th Century Fox.  Early
     reports say the "first project" in the deal would be
     "Homeboy," a comedy about a family that adopts a child in
     hopes he'll become a professional basketball player"
     (CHARLOTTE OBSERVER/L.A. TIMES, 2/20).
