STADIUM NOTES

          The S.F. Board of Supervisors submitted to voters a
     $100M bond issue for a new 49ers stadium.  The revenue-bond
     proposal will be put on the June 3 special election ballot. 
     (S.F. EXAMINER, 2/19)....The Texas Motor Speedway has come
     up with a suite deal for fans during the Interstate
     Batteries 500 week April 3-6.  A Thursday, Saturday, Sunday
     package runs $750 per person, and includes ticket, food,
     restrooms inside the suite, closed circuit TV and cash bar
     (Texas Motor Speedway)....The March '97 issue of INSIDE
     SPORTS examines the "building boom" in auto racetracks. 
     Eddie Gossage, GM/Texas Motor Speedway, comparing auto
     racing to baseball: "They play 80 home games a year in a
     45,000-seat stadium ... we have only a certain number of
     days to get hay in a barn.  We're trying to get a lot of hay
     in the barn in only a few days" (INSIDE SPORTS, 3/97).
