TEAM MEDIA NOTES: DODGERS RADIO DEAL WORTH $7M ANNUALLY

In L.A., Tom Hoffarth notes KIIS-AM winning radio
rights to the Dodgers. KIIS' pledge of $7M per-year, for
five years, replaces the Dodgers' deal with KABC for $9M per
season (L.A. DAILY NEWS, 1/31). The TIMES' Larry Stewart
writes that all-sports radio has "never really been a
success" in L.A. and the Dodgers-KIIS deal "could have far-
reaching ramifications for sports radio" in the city.
Stewart adds, "look for" UCLA football and basketball to
move from San Diego-based XTRA to KIIS, and another
possibility, "although not as likely," would be for the NHL
Kings "to change stations" (L.A. TIMES, 1/31).
O'S ON FOR ONE MORE: The Orioles and Washington, DC-
based WTOP-AM have agreed to a one-year extension of their
broadcast deal. This will be the 19th straight season WTOP
has carried Orioles games (WASHINGTON POST, 1/31).
