TEAM MEDIA NOTES: ROYALS A SCROOGE TO TV ANNOUNCER?

          The Royals, starting a three-year contract with Fox
     Sports Rocky Mountain as its rights holder, informed Steve
     Busby that he will not return in '97 as their TV announcer,
     according to Randy Covitz of the K.C. STAR.  Busby was with
     the team for just one year. However, "it appears" eight-year
     analyst Paul Splittorff, will return (K.C. STAR, 12/19).
          D-RAY DEALS: The Devil Rays signed an agreement with
     WFLA-970 to be the team's radio flagship beginning in '98. 
     The deal, with WFLA's parent company, Jacor Broadcasting, is
     for seven years (Kevin Wells, TAMPA TRIBUNE, 12/20).
