MEDIA NOTES

          The Marquee Group and Lifetime TV will produce a
     women's documentary series tentatively titled "Breaking
     Through."  The specials will examine developments in women's
     sports (The Marquee Group)....Classic Sports Network named
     Wilt Chamberlain to its Board of Champions, a group of
     athletes who provide promotional and creative support for
     the network (CSN). Classic Sports Network will add nearly
     200,000 subscribers in the L.A. area as of December 31 area
     through an expanded agreement with Century Communications
     (CSN)....New England Sports Network, which has carried
     Hockey East games since the league's inception in '84, says
     it will no longer be "financially viable" to carry Hockey
     East games after this season (BOSTON GLOBE, 12/15)....Also
     in Boston, Eddie Andelman signed a three-year deal with
     options at WEEI-AM (BOSTON GLOBE, 12/14)....The Celebrity
     Golf Association will expand its schedule from five to six
     events in '97, and increase TV coverage through a deal with
     The Family Channel.  At least three of the six events will
     get one-day, two hour coverage on The Family Channel
     (Minneapolis STAR-TRIBUNE, 12/15).

Later in the show, we hear from ESPN’s VP of Programming and Acquisitions Tim Reed as the NFL Draft gets set to kick off on Thursday night in Motown. SBJ’s Tom Friend also joins the show to share his insights into NBA viewership trends.
