ESPN/CHILTON SPORTS POLL: TIGER IN AS FAVORITE LINKSTER

          Based on November data (interview dates: November 1-
     December 2, 1996) with 600 respondents and unaided
     responses, Tiger Woods is America's favorite golfer.  He is
     favorite among all age groups except 55 years and older.
     Among the findings: 

          ^    Over 35% of the 12-17 and 18-24 year old demos    
               say Woods is their favorite golfer.  
          ^    He is the favorite among both males and females,
               and in the North, South, East and West.  
          ^    He ranks among the top 15 favorite athletes and
               the top 25 of athletes people would choose to
               endorse a product.

          SWOOSH, THERE HE IS: When golf fans were asked who they
     thought the sport's biggest sponsor was, Nike ranked 3rd at
     9.6%.  19.1% of those who named Woods as their favorite
     golfer named Nike the game's biggest sponsor by respondents.
