MEDIA NOTES

     Viacom and MCA could not come to terms on a private
settlement over the ownership of the USA Network.  A court case
was recessed until Monday, so the two sides could meet, but
"talks have since been terminated" ("Market Wrap," CNBC, 10/25).
The case is expected to resume today as MCA-parent Seagram CEO
Edgar Bronfman Jr. is expected to testify in its case against
Viacom for control of the network (N.Y. TIMES, 10/26)....Gary
Carter will become an analyst for the Expos TV broadcasts.  He
will work with play-by-play announcer David Van Horne (N.Y.
TIMES, 10/27).
