LEWD AS SHE WANTS TO BE: BABE'S BOOK CAUSES CONTROVERSY?

ESPN's Fabulous Sports Babe, Nanci Donnellan, has
"thoroughly embarrassed" ESPN with her new book, "The Babe in
Boyland" and "may have written herself right out of her job" as
an on-air personality for ESPN Radio, according to N.Y. POST
columnist Phil Mushnick. Donnellan's book is reportedly "laced
with gratuitous profanity," and "attacks" on people. An ESPN
source told Mushnick, "It's not just that it might be the most
undignified book ever written, some of its contents could be
actionable [as in libel]. Her deal here is up soon, and the
feeling around here is that the book will cost her job" (N.Y.
POST, 10/18). Donnellan has gone for "Howard Stern-esque shock
value" and "Andrew Dice Babe barrage," according to Tom Hoffarth
in the L.A. DAILY NEWS. Hoffarth: "This piece of foul-mouthed
garbage will probably set her back a few decades. ... The
language isn't befitting a human being, let alone a Disney, Inc.
employee" (L.A. DAILY NEWS, 10/18).
