BLAZERS THREATEN SUIT IF BILLBOARD NOT TAKEN DOWN

The Trail Blazers have "demanded" that local sports talk
radio station The Fan, KFXX (1520 AM), "dismantle" a billboard ad
which gives the impression it carries Blazer game broadcasts,
according to Jeff Manning of the Portland OREGONIAN. The Blazers
have told the station it must have the ad down by today, or it
will be sued. Located "just blocks" form the Rose Garden, the
billboard has a picture of former Blazers and current talk show
hosts, Mychal Thompson and Kermit Washington, under the header
"Blazers on the Fan." The terms Blazers and Trail Blazers, as
well as the Blazer Logo are registered trademarks of Trail
Blazers Inc. Blazers Senior VP Marketing Ops Harry Hutt said
"It's not just a trademark issue," adding, "We're concerned here
with our relationship with KEX." KEX is the Blazer's flagship
station (Portland OREGONIAN, 10/17).
