LOOKING FOR LABOR DAY READING? NEW SPORTS BOOKS IN PRINT

     STEPHEN BRUNT, sports columnist for the Toronto GLOBE &
MAIL, has written "Diamond Dreams: 20 Years of Blue Jays
Baseball," released by Viking.  The GLOBE & MAIL's William
Humber: "'Diamond Dreams' testifies to the magnificence of the
Toronto Blue Jays," and it is "the perfect contemporary baseball
history of a team" (TORONTO GLOBE & MAIL, 8/24). ..."The Dark
Side of the Game: My Life in the NFL," by NFL veteran and Fox-TV
analyst TIM GREEN, is published by Warner Books. In Tacoma, Bob
Condotta notes, "Green is at his best in simply describing the
day-to-day life of an NFL player" (Tacoma NEWS TRIBUNE,
8/24)....The TAMPA TRIBUNE's H.A. BRANHAM has written "Sampras: A
Legend in the Works" to be released by Bonus Books.  The book "is
not biographical, but centers of Sampras' last year of major
events."  Excerpts run in today's TRIBUNE (TAMPA TRIBUNE, 8/27).
