STADIUM NOTES

Former Orlando Arena Dir Joanne Grant has sued the city of
Orlando and Mayor Glenda Hood in federal court, seeking more than
$1M in damages after claiming she was unfairly forced to quit in
October of '94. Grant resigned amid allegations she had
employees do personal chores for her on city time and traded show
and concert tickets for drinks and dinners (ORLANDO SENTINEL,
8/22)....Work was scheduled to begin yesterday to repair
defective welds in the new press box at the L.A. Memorial
Coliseum. The work is to be overseen by Law/Crandall Engineering
Inc., a firm not associated with original construction company
Nabih Youssef & Associates. Coliseum Commission President Roger
Kozberg said he does not intend, for now, to seek remuneration
for the repairs from those originally responsible -- unless it is
determined they performed negligently. The construction is
expected to be completed before USC plays its first home game
September 14 (L.A. TIMES, 8/22).
