     Michael Irvin's lawyer yesterday agreed to have his client
return a $50,000 Toyota Land Cruiser to the North Texas Toyota
Dealers Association.  The group still wants $1.4M from Irvin for
lost sales and ad production costs, and a state judge gave the
parties a week to negotiate a settlement, or the case goes to
trial March 10 (USA TODAY, 8/22)....The CBA signed a new two-year
agreement with Howe Sportsdata International to serve as the
Official Statistical Bureau of the CBA.  This marks the seventh
consecutive year Howe has served in this capacity (CBA). ...Barry
Bonds on whether he will get Michael Jordan or Ken Griffey, Jr.-
type endorsement deal: "Nope.  Once you've been stamped, that's
it.  Certain players have a bad-boy image and it can work for
them -- Charles Barkley for one, Dennis Rodman for another.  They
make millions from being bad boys" (INSIDE SPORTS, 10/96
issue)....MLS All-Star midfielder Preki, currently with the
Kansas City Wiz, signed with SportsNet Marketing & Management,
Inc. for exclusive marketing and management representation
(SportsNet)...A NASCAR ad supplement in yesterday's Washington
Post was not bought by NASCAR but developed by the newspaper (THE
DAILY).
