OLYMPIC MARKETING NEWS: B.G. SWING PAYMENTS WITHHELD

The Atlanta Economic Development Corp. (AEDC) has decided to
withhold further payments to the city's Olympic Marketing
Manager, B.G. Swing Games Management, until disputes with vendors
are settled, according to the ATLANTA CONSTITUTION. More than
two dozen vendors, who claim they were mislead on such things as
pedestrian traffic, site locations and miscellaneous services,
have filed suit in Fulton Superior Court seeing $25M in damages
against B.G. Swing and its President Munson W. Steed Jr. AEDC,
which contracted with B.G. Swing for the city, has already paid
the firm $1.7M (Whitt & Harris, ATLANTA CONSTITUTION, 8/22).
B.G. Swing generated $5.8M leasing streets and sidewalks during
the Games. Swing's contract with AEDC calls for the company to
receive 1/3 of the first $4.5M -- or $1.5M. The city gets 2/3,
including $2.5M guaranteed upfront by B.G. Swing. From $4.5-6M,
Swing is supposed to get 60% and the city 40% (Whitt & Harris,
ATLANTA CONSTITUTION, 8/21).
