LUSTER OFF THE BLUE JAYS AS CBC RATINGS CONTINUE TO GO SOUTH

CBC's Blue Jays ratings are down this year and "have been
dropping steadily" since the team's '93 championship season,
according to William Houston of the Toronto GLOBE & MAIL. The
Jays' average audience on the CBC this season is a "surprisingly
low" 492,000, which represents a 12 share. Last year, the
team's average audience was 551,000 and a 13 share. The team's
"peak" was in '92 and '93 when they drew a high of 1.1 million a
game in '93 with a 24 share. Comparatively, the NBA on CTV last
season drew about 600,000 a game, while CBC's Hockey Night in
Canada attracts about one million viewers a week (Toronto GLOBE &
MAIL, 8/15).
