ANTI-SMOKING GROUP WANTS TO PUT THE BRAKES ON RACING DEALS

The Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids says it has marketing
data indicating auto racing attracts more teenagers than the
industry has admitted. The Tobacco Institute had previously
indicated that teenagers make up just 3% of the audience at
NASCAR events, but the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids says their
data shows 15% of those attending races are aged 12-17. The
anti-smoking group used research from Simmons Market, the same
company the Tobacco Institute used (AP/ATLANTA CONSTITUTION,
8/14).
