BUCCANEERS LOOK TO EXTEND LEASE DEADLINE -- AGAIN

     Jonathan Jennewein, attorney for the Bucs, has asked the
Tampa Sports Authority to extend the July 31 deadline to finish
the lease for a proposed new stadium, according to the TAMPA
TRIBUNE. Officials have already moved the deadline back from
July 15, but TSA attorney Don Gifford said "the main thing is to
get an agreement in principle by the referendum" on September 3.
Changes the Authority wants made to the team's original lease
include:  the Bucs paying property taxes on the stadium land;
reserving special "sponsorship rights" to other stadium patrons
like the MLS Mutiny and the Univ. of South Florida; and keeping
the lease at 30 years. The Authority is also working on a
separate demand by Bucs Owner Malcolm Glazer that he hold
development rights to approximately 35 acres around the stadium
(Joe Henderson, TAMPA TRIBUNE, 7/25).
