MEDIA NOTES

     The Toronto Star has filled the vacancy for a hockey writer
left by Bob McKenzie, who went to The Hockey News, by hiring Alan
Adams of the Canadian Press.  Damien Cox moves from Maple Leafs
beat writer to columnist (Toronto GLOBE & MAIL,
7/20)....Westinghouse announced its plans to launch a "news-
related" cable channel.  Westinghouse Chair Michael Jordan said
the channel will be "news related, but not a news channel."
CNN's Lou Dobbs noted "a lot of executives at a number of
networks are trying to find out what that means" ("Moneyline,"
7/19)....MLB's "Home Run Derby" was the top ranked basic cable
telecast for the week ending July 14 with a 4.4 cable rating
(Nielsen Sports Marketing)....The CISL announced a national radio
package with National Cable Radio for twelve games and full
coverage of the CISL championship (CISL)....Reebok has finalized
a deal for a Reebok-sponsored area on AOL.  Reebok will produce
daily content for the Olympics, but post-Games, the site will be
a weekly sports/fitness electronic magazine (AD AGE, 7/22).
