NBA AGENTS: WILLIAMS SNUBS HOYA TRADITION; JOE SMITH INC.

ESPN's David Aldridge said Georgetown's JEROME WILLIAMS
"turned heads" when he signed with Advantage International's LON
BABBY, since top Georgetown picks have historically gone with
DAVID FALK, who also represents Georgetown coach JOHN THOMPSON.
Aldridge notes Williams says he "got some great advice from
teammates who are going to be on my team now" meaning GRANT HILL,
also represented by Babby (ESPN, 6/28). ....In Atlanta, Ailene
Voisin notes JOE SMITH has fired agent LEN ELMORE because of
conflicts between Elmore and Smith family members, "who have
become increasingly involved" in his marketing and financial
affairs. Elmore is said to be "so disillusioned" with the
process of "recruiting and retaining young stars" he is
considering a return to his law practice (ATLANTA CONSTITUTION,
6/30).
