LOCAL ARCHITECTS WANT TO EXTEND RAVENS STADIUM TO WATERFRONT

A group of local Baltimore architects are pushing for the
Ravens stadium to be extended several blocks to the south in
order to create a second downtown waterfront, according to the
Baltimore SUN. The group has discussed the idea with the
Maryland Stadium Authority, site designers and stadium
architects. The plan would require the purchase of an industrial
site (Marcia Myers, Baltimore SUN, 6/29). Meanwhile, when
groundbreaking begins on the Ravens' facility later this month,
more than 5,000 Orioles parking spaces will disappear. Stadium
Authority officials have begun a campaign warning fans of the
situation and suggesting that they park in downtown garages or
use mass transit (Fern Shen, WASHINGTON POST, 6/30).
