HAIL TO THE CHIEF: USOC COMMITTEE OFFERS HYBL AS PRESIDENT

     The USOC's Nominating Committee officially presented the six
officers nominated to lead the organization through 2000 with
William Hybl, who served as interim President in '91-92,
recommended as president.  VP nominations were given to the
USOC's current treasurer Sandra Baldwin, Herman Frazier, a '76
gold medal winner and current VP of USA Track & Field, and Paul
George, a longtime USOC board member who currently represents USA
Hockey.  The Treasurer nod was given to James Morris, Chair of
IWC Resources Corp., while current USOC Executive Committee
member Marty Mankamyer was nominated as Secretary (USOC).  Hybl,
current Chair & CEO of the El Pomar Foundation in Colorado
Springs, helped lead the USOC through "the turmoil" of a conflict
of interest case and "later became enmeshed in one of his own"
while serving as interim president (WASHINGTON TIMES, 6/17).
