LEAGUE NOTES

     After this season, MLB may move its draft, traditionally
held in June, to July in order to allow better scouting of
players and more publicity (BASEBALL AMERICA, 6/10 issue)....Ten
of the 11 teams in the USBL opened the season on May 10-11 and
three -- Atlantic City, New Hampshire and Connecticut -- had
sell-outs (USBL)....ATP officials officially announced the
$425,000 Heineken Open will be played September 30-October 6, in
Singapore, that city's first ATP tour event since '92 (ATP)....In
Toronto, Gare Joyce notes the NHL's "grassroots" growth among
Black and Hispanic fans in South FL (Toronto GLOBE & MAIL,
5/29)...RHI begins their season tonight.  In Oakland, the Skates
have sold 2,700 season-ticket packages for the 4,900-seat Kaiser
Arena (S. F. CHRONICLE, 5/30).
